Tuolumne County: Heart of Gold Country

Two dogs on boat launch in Tuolumne County

We can’t begin to count the ways you and your pup will be enchanted and entertained in the heart of Gold Country, but we can start you off on the Tuolumne County Wine and Craft Beer Trail, where we highlight five dog-friendly establishments, one of which is actually a lush, 160-acre preserve producing hard cider and spirits.

That would be Indigeny Reserve just outside Sonora. Dogs are allowed in the tasting bar, where you (but not Fido) can sample ciders and brandies and learn about how both are made. Afterward, tour the property on self-guided walking trails and enjoy a picnic in a shady grove.

You’ll find three dog-friendly tasting rooms—Gianelli, Inner Sanctum and The Service Station—on Main Street in historic Jamestown, where you and your pup can also visit Railtown 1897 State Historic Park and go for a ride on a train pulled by a steam locomotive.
