Fall is a wonderful time to travel, especially to the North Coast of California. This holiday season, the Stanford Inn in scenic Mendocino is your “natural” choice for the entire family—including dogs, of course. Joan and Jeff Stanford recently celebrated their 42nd anniversary as innkeepers here, and they’re busy unpacking a collection of holiday decorations as they prepare to extend a warm welcome during the festive months ahead.

What’s on tap at the Stanford Inn

This is Joan and Jeff’s favorite season, with longer nights, cooler temperatures and plenty of time for creativity and joy. The Mushroom Harvest Festival takes place across Mendocino County through November 13. At the Stanford Inn, you’ll find special dishes, mushroom exploration walks, workshops and more. Next up is a cozy Thanksgiving Dinner on November 24. Reservations are required, so book your seats soon. The team here really decks the halls for the holiday season, creating a true winter wonderland in the lead-up to Christmas. Check out the inn’s video greeting card from last year!

Dogs are always welcome at the Stanford Inn

At the Stanford Inn, the happiest guests just might be the dogs. When pups and the humans who follow check in, you can see the joy. Dogs wiggle and wag as they explore the lobby and anticipate new adventures. Their curiosity reminds people to pause, enjoy the moment, and chat with other guests about favorite area activities. The Stanford Inn is a fully dog-friendly property, welcoming four-legged family members in the guestrooms, across the grounds, in the bookstore, and at the resort restaurant and bar.

Amenities galore at the Stanford Inn

Nature is central to the Stanford Inn experience. The grounds are gorgeous, of course, and gourmet, plant-based breakfasts crafted by a nationally acclaimed team are included in your stay. Rooms have wood-burning fireplaces and guests can use nine EV chargers on the property. There are dog-friendly canoe rentals and easy access to hiking trails, too. Whether you’re strolling on a windswept beach, watching the stars or simply kicking back with your pup, you’ll enjoy a naturally great getaway that leaves you energized and inspired.

Book direct and save

Most DogTrekkers book directly with their favorite lodging properties. It’s a smart move, since the best rates and most flexible scheduling comes from establishing direct relationships with hotels and inns. You can find current Stanford Inn specials and plan your stay by calling the property’s 24-hour reservation line at (707) 937-5615, or by booking your accommodations online. Joan and Jeff look forward to sharing the energy and magic of Stanford Inn by the Sea and introducing you to the awe-inspiring Mendocino Coast this fall and winter!
