The Lake Effect

Kayla welcomes guests

You don’t have to be a skier or snowboarder to enjoy Lake Tahoe in winter: this year’s abundant snowfall has created a snowy wonderland for all, four-legged family members included. For five-paw treatment, book a room at the mid-mountain Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe at the Northstar California mountain resort.

The Ritz lives up to its reputation by really, well, “putting on the Ritz” for its canine guests. While weekly Sunday afternoon Yappy Hours are a summertime highlight, visiting pups are welcome to join their people around the fire pit on the back terrace and at the Backyard Bar & BBQ patio restaurant year-round (it’s heated).

The resort’s dedicated gondola provides anytime transportation to the base-area Village at Northstar for more dining, people- and dog-watching options. Your four-legged companion is also welcome to join you on Moonlight Snowshoeing tours departing the Cross-Country, Telemark + Snowshoe Center at mid-mountain.
