Stay in Surf City – Explore the OC

By: DogTrekker Staff

Huntington Beach is a “pawesome” place to visit with your pooch, but it’s also the gateway to hundreds of other adventures throughout Orange County. Of course, if you choose to get a dog sitter for the day, Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm and Angels Stadium are nearby. Want to stay on the coast? We get it: you love the beach. So if you want to hit the road but still play along the coast, we’ve got just the place.

Just head south to the artist enclave of Laguna Beach. The Laguna Beach dog park is now 25 years old and was the first official dog park in Orange County. Today it is owned, operated and maintained by the City of Laguna Beach and features two beautiful acres tucked in between the Laguna Coast Wilderness Park and the Aliso/Wood Canyons Regional Wilderness Park. After your exercise, Laguna boasts many dog-friendly dining choices including Taco Loco, The Cliff Restaurant, Sapphire Restaurant and Zinc Café & Market.

Then, in a little over a half an hour, you can be back in Huntington Beach all ready to rest up for a good night's sleep and another adventure the next day. Every OC beach city has its own personality. Maybe tomorrow you’ll visit Newport. Or Dana Point. Or San Clemente. Wherever you wander, Orange County will keep you busy and make it easy, especially when Huntington Beach is your base camp.
