The gold rush continues today in the form of tourism in a region encompassing a dozen cities and counties, including the city of Sacramento, which served as the main supply center for the Gold Rush. From a DogTrekker’s point of view, there’s a lot of “gold” still to be discovered.
The California Gold Country also includes the counties of Sierra, Nevada, Placer, El Dorado, Sacramento, Amador, Calaveras, Tuolumne, Mariposa and Madera. Cities also include Folsom, and Rancho Cordova and Elk Grove.
