Sunday afternoon, October 2 at 2 p.m. at its Dublin adoption center, East Bay SPCA offers a chance to enjoy wine from Canine Wines and Flora Springs, sample tasty hors d'oeuvres, meet adoptable animals, listen to live music, and make generous bids on silent auction items, all in support of its lifesaving work.
Founded in Oakland in 1874, the East Bay SPCA is an independent, privately funded organization that operates two adoption facilities, one in Oakland and one in Dublin, as well as a spay/neuter clinic in Oakland. In addition to offering a safe haven to dogs, cats, and other animals in need, EBSPCA is known for its education and training programs. The innovative TLC (Teaching Love and Compassion) program enlists middle school kids in working with shelter dogs to learn kindness and make the dogs more adoptable. The PALS Pet Therapy program provides training to animal-human teams who want to bring healing to those in need. Over the last decade, EBSPCA has placed more than 25,000 dogs and cats in loving homes.
Among the guest stars appearing at Growl, Meow & Wine, along with her adopters, is Papaya, a 14-year-old Chihuahua that EBSPCA rescued from another shelter where she was in danger of being euthanized due to her advanced age.
