Over at Golden Gate Labrador Retriever Rescue, they often take in purebred representatives of the most popular breed in the country who have the bad luck to end up homeless because, for one reason or another, life happens. But they also have some great dogs whose gene pool is Lab and a bonus.
Take Kaya here, a mellow lady of Lab and border collie ancestry who shows the best qualities of both breeds—she's sweet, loving, and eager to please, and also bright, intelligent, and quick to learn. She enjoys an active life of walking and hiking, but is also happy to snuggle by her person's side. She loves to play, she loves to swim; she's good with kids and gets along well with other dogs, though rowdy youngsters are too much for her. About the only character flaw she's exhibited is a tendency to chase cats, so she should probably go to a home without one. She's a very affectionate, people-oriented dog and would like a family that would spend lots of time with her. If you'd like to find out more about her, please call GGLRR Lab Rescue Rep Liz at 415-613-6374.
