Taylor Creek is located on the west side of Highway 89, just north of Camp Richardson Road. Overnight camping is not allowed.
Leashed pets are permitted at the Taylor Creek Visitor Center and on the trails. The Visitors Center (typically open from June through October) includes a fascinating underwater observatory. Though the buildings are closed during the winter, the grounds remain open year-round and the site serves as a popular cross-country skiing and snowshoeing destination.
All facilities at the Taylor Creek Visitor Center are wheelchair accessible, including the Rainbow Trail, Stream Profile Chamber, Lake of the Sky Amphitheater and restrooms. In addition, audiotape tours of the area are available at no charge at the visitor center.
Recommended Activities: Cross-country skiing, dog sledding, and snow play.
The SNO-Park program provides winter recreation at locations along the Sierra Nevada. Distinctive brown highway signs located along highways identify the SNO-Parks.
Each SNO-Park provides visitors access to snow-cleared parking lots and sanitation facilities. Snow conditions determine accessibility and opportunities available at each site.
SNO-Parks are open seasonally between November 1st and May 30th. Visitors are required to purchase and display a parking permit for each vehicle parked at a SNO-Park. Fees are $15 per day or $40 for the season.
Please note, pets are not permitted in or near the Taylor Creek Marsh and are not allowed in the Stream Profile Chamber. Dogs are not allowed anywhere near the Eagle Habitat. All dogs must be leashed.
