The Rancho Cañada del Oro Open Space Preserve is in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains in South Santa Clara County, extending along the Carmel River into Monterey County. The Carmel creek runs along the Llagas Meadow and deer, bobcats, mountains lions and additional wildlife roam throughout.
The preserve has 12 miles of trails that are open to hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians. A particularly nice trail for dogs is the 4 mile route from Palo Corona Regional Park’s discovery center to Rancho San Carlos Road and back.
The paved, ADA and wheelchair accessible half-mile Llagas Creek Loop trail provides a lovely nature experience for visitors with limited mobility.
