Situated at an impressive elevation of 9,250 feet, Lake George claims the title of being the highest road-accessible lake in Lakes Basin. While swimming isn’t permitted at lakes in the Mammoth Lakes Basin (aside from at Horseshoe Lake) there are picnic tables, campsites and a boat dock.
Additionally, Lake George serves as a gateway to various trailheads that allow you to delve deeper into the wilderness. Best of all, you can bring your furry friend along; leashed dogs are welcome. Please note that access is limited to skiers and snowshoers in winter.
