Harmon Canyon Preserve, established in 2020, is Ventura's first large-scale nature preserve. At 2,100 acres, visitors enjoy hills and canyons that feature oak groves, stream crossings, and breathtaking views of Southern California mountain ranges, coastlines, and Channel Islands National Park. This spectacular recreation destination offers miles of trails for hiking, biking, running, and exploring.
Free parking is available at the preserve trailhead off McVittie Place.
Dog Rules:
- Keep your dog on leash at all times (maximum length of 6 feet)
- Clean up and dispose of dog waste in marked bins
- Only walk on designated trails and roadways
- Dogs only allowed on the road to the turnaround at 1.8 miles
- Remind other dog owners you encounter not following policy and report those who do not comply to staff
Staff and docents will be enforcing these rules. If enforcing the dog policy becomes too difficult, no dogs will be allowed at the Preserve.
