Welcome to Concord, a proactively ADA city.

Concord is an inclusive city that welcomes guests of all abilities. Families whose loved ones live with sensory challenges—someone on the autism spectrum or with a diagnosed sensory sensitivity, for example—can apply for a free, one-night practice hotel stay through Visit Concord. Concord hotel employees have been trained to better serve travelers with sensory needs and provide sensory kits. Concord is also the first stop on the sensory-sensitive road trip featured in Visit California’s Road Trip Republic guide.

Concord hotels welcome service dogs and offer ADA-accessible rooms that open travel to all. This proactively accessible city also has plenty of great parks and trails that are perfect whether you’re using a wheelchair, pushing a stroller, walking with a senior dog, or simply moving more slowly than normal. The flat, quarter-mile opening stretch of the Mary Bowerman Trail is ideal on clear days, thanks to incredible views from the 3,849-foot summit of Mount Diablo.

Elsewhere, many East Bay Regional Parks District destinations offer barrier-free parking plus accessible picnic areas, trails and restrooms. Matteo’s Dream is a popular Concord playground for children of all abilities, including those who can’t walk, see or hear. For more about flat, wheelchair-accessible trails that are also great for older dogs, explore TrailLink’s Concord Wheelchair Accessible Trails and Maps site.
